Bodegas Irache is one of those historical family firms whose beginnings go back as far as 1891. Situated in Ayegui, at the foot of Montejurra, two kilometres from Estella the winery’s vineyards surrounded the royal houses of Navarra in the 12th century. The old winery is a Wine Museum today, housing a unique fountain which permanently flows with wine for the passing pilgrims on the road to Santiago de Compostella. Currently the winery is owned by Jesus Santesteban, whose daughters guarantee the continuity of the family business.
