BODEGA COOPERATIVA SAN FRANCISCO JAVIER

The creation of the San Franciso Javier Cooperative in 1939 was based around the Garnacha grape, the only variety planted locally then. Various wineries in the town of Artajona came together in order to distribute their wines on the local market. Little by little their brands became successful, in such a way, that by the 1970’s the wines had conquered the palates of such bon viveurs as the inspired writer Ernest Hemingway, a lover of the wines of this winery, as is reflected in local press coverage of the time.
