The Regulatory Board comprises:

• Chairperson, elected by qualified majority by the board members of the plenum, for a four-year term.
• Plenum, comprising the Chairperson and board members, 12 in total, of which 6 represent the producing sector and 6 the marketing sector, also elected for 4 years.

Over its 75 years of history, the following people have been Chairmen of the Designation of Origin Regulatory Board: Mr Ramón Frauca (1933), Mr Antonio Mauleón Aroza (1958-1971), Mr Francisco Traver Campo (1971-1982), Mr Pedro Sánchez de Muniain Corera (1982-1986), Mr Julián Poyo Bea (1986-1988), Mr Javier Ibilcieta Ibilcieta (1988-1992), Mr José Oroz Uriz (1992-1997) and Mr Alvaro Marino Pérez de Rada (1997-2007).
